Below you'll find documented "fan service" for Bulma. I consider this list pretty definitive. If you know of something that's not documented here, let me know. For the manga information on scenes, they are referenced according to the Tankoubon release. However, the Kanzenban release is used for the reference pictures, as they are nicer, and in some cases, in color. To navigate this page more efficiently, I've included a jump menu so you can go to different time periods without having to scroll the whole page.

Quick Jump Menu

01 (Beginning of "Dragon Ball")

Bulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 1. Did not appear in the manga.

After Goku was run over by Bulma's vehicle, he curiously circled Bulma, not knowing what to make of her. During this examination, he innocently lifted her skirt, having never seen a girl before and not knowing the significance of doing so. This scene was from the anime only, and did not appear in the manga. This is the first fan service moment in the anime, and is the first fan service scene in the entire Dragon Ball universe.

02

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 1. Manga volume 1, chapter 1.

Bulma showed Goku her panties, and offered to let him "touch" in exchange for his Dragon Ball. It was not clear whether she meant her panties, or her butt, but it's most likely she was implying panties because that's what she was holding and focusing on. Not having knowledge of girls and sexuality, Goku turned down her offer to touch her "dirty butt", having no interest. And as stated before, it's not certain whether Goku "thought" she meant her butt, or whether Bulma intended that and Goku was not making an assumption. This is the first fan service moment to appear in the Dragon Ball manga, and thus the "first" chronologically in the creation of the Dragon Ball universe (because the anime was based off of the original manga).

03

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 2. Manga volume 1, chapter 2.

Bulma was taking a bath when Goku walked in, not realizing the significance because of his innocence/ignorance. Bulma, of course, freaked out. In the manga, we got a little less detail of Bulma's figure, especially her breasts, but we were given a full body shot of her in the bathtub. Still, the anime scene gave move.

04

BulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 2. Manga volume 1, chapter 2.

Goku, reminiscing about how he used to sleep with his head in his grandfather's lap (using his testicles for a "pillow", as retarded as that sounds to western audiences), decided to use Bulma for the same thing, but quickly realized something was "different" about her. He removed her panties to investigate, and realized she had "no balls". Bulma awoke and initially thought something had happened to the Dragon Balls, but was not wise to what had really happened. The manga page reveals more than the anime episode does during the removal of underwear (a version of this, in one of the Dragon Ball movies, showed more). This is an (in)famous scene in the Dragon Ball universe. "No balls", as this scene has come to be known, has been widely parodied throughout the manga/anime universe.

05

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 3. Manga volume 1, chapter 4.

In exchange for Roshi's Dragon Ball, Bulma flashed him, twice in fact, not knowing that Goku removed her panties earlier. In some FUNimation versions of this episode, the second flashing was slightly "cropped" so that pelvic/inner thigh lines weren't as visible. This was not censorship, but just a result of their video editing process (censored versions don't have this at all). This was an (in)famous scene in the Dragon Ball universe, and probably ranks as the #1 fan service moment in the history of the entire Dragon Ball series, and is widely known and referenced in the larger anime world. The shot of Bulma's naked rear end in this scene has come to epitomize the lighter side of the Dragon Ball universe.

06

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 4. Manga volume 1, chapter 5.

Bulma became smitten with a particular Oolong transformation, not yet knowing who Oolong was. When asked her "bust" size, she readily gave it (34-C/85 cm), WITH visual emphasis. In the manga, we got one panel from one page. In the anime, we got a far shot, and a closer one; both frames, however, were identical in appearance.

07

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 6. Manga volume 1, chapter 9.

Bulma was seen taking a shower in a mobile home that she was sharing with Goku and Oolong. While Yamucha crept up to investigate the trailer in order to formulate a plan to obtain their Dragon Ball's, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of Bulma in all her glory. This scene was ever so slightly cropped in some FUNimation releases, particularly in the frames of Bulma washing her leg. She came out wearing a towel, which pretty much bridged this scene with the next fan service scene. In the manga, we got a better full body shot of Bulma nude, and also two topless shots with full nipple rendering not obstructed by light glare on glass. This was an (in)famous scene in the Dragon Ball universe and is known across the anime world. For supremacy, it is rivaled only by the "flashing" scene with Roshi on the beach, though in this author's opinion, it is the best fan service scene that the Dragon Ball franchise has yet to offer.

08

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 6. Manga volume 1, chapter 9.

Yamucha tried to use Puar as a diversion to get Bulma out of the mobile home she was sharing with Goku and Oolong, in order to steal their Dragon Balls, because he tended to freak out around girls and couldn't complete his objective without Bulma out of sight and mind. Oolong, in the process of attempting to "feel up" a nude sleeping Bulma, upon seeing Puar in the poor shape-shift form of Goku (but still thinking it's the real Goku), turned into a poor imitation of Bulma and followed the impostor Goku out of the mobile home. The two later realized that they were both playing the same game (and we also found out that they knew each other). Yamucha then entered and, finding Goku asleep, made his way upstairs where he spotted a blanket with two round things underneath it, which were of course Bulma's breasts as she slept under the blanket. Thinking they were Dragon Balls, he felt/squeezed them and noticed how they were oddly "soft" (with a close up of him doing this). He removed the blanket to reveal a nude Bulma. In the anime, we were greeted to a full side shot of Bulma's breasts, with light nipple rendering in the non-blanketed frames. We were then exposed to an angled over-head shot of Bulma topless, with "star" graphics interspersed enough to obscure almost all nipple rendering. In the manga, we did not get any shots of Bulma during the Yamucha portion of this scene. However, we did get a few shots of a sleeping Bulma when Oolong removed her blanket, however, there wasn't much to see. Bottom line: the anime delivered better than the manga in this scene.

09

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episodes 6-9. Manga volume 1, chapter 10 - manga volume 2, chapter 5 (last appearance is on page 7).

Bulma was forced to wear a "bunny" suit that Oolong had, when her other clothes weren't available. She wore this for a while until the start of the "Boss Rabbit" plot, where she got a different outfit from a vendor who mistook her for a member of Boss Rabbit's gang. Bulma wearing this suit was pretty much one giant fan service part of the manga and anime. It's an obvious allusion to Playboy bunnies, and bunny suits are a common theme in H works.

10

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 8. Manga volume 2, chapter 4.

In this scene, Bulma wasn't technically part of the fan service, but an otherwise exact Oolong look-a-like was. Goku promised Roshi that Bulma would show him her breasts if he helped put out the fire on Fire Mountain (known in the "Viz" manga as "Fry-Pan Mountain"). So Bulma utilized Oolong's shape-shifting abilities to let him do the "job" for her, much to Oolong's displeasure. Oolong could not decline, as Bulma held power over him using a magic word that when used made Oolong have to relieve himself uncontrollably. However, Oolong had a little bit of "revenge" by allowing Roshi to put his face between her (his?) breasts and then "go Pafu-pafu!", thus making Bulma "look bad"; she remarked "you made me look like the biggest pervert ever!" (from English subtitles). In the manga, the side shot of Oolong Bulma's breasts had a slightly rendered nipple, whereas the anime didn't have any rendering of a nipple. "Pafu-pafu" is a phrase that is familiar to the wider anime universe, and is a running joke that is referenced often in H fan works that are unrelated to Dragon Ball.

11

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 11. Did not appear in the manga.

While trapped by Pilaf after being put to sleep by gas, Bulma woke up and noticed that the Dragon Balls had been taken. She rushed over to the empty pouch that was next to a passed out Yamucha. Upon awakening, Yamucha got a close up view of her cleavage. This, and the entire "Pinball" scene that followed, only appeared in the anime.

12

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 20. Did not appear in the manga.

In this scene, Bulma made Oolong act as a foot-stool so that she could see through a window to watch the preliminary matches during the World Martial Arts Tournament (Tenkaichi Budokai). However, Oolong was treated to a perfect view of Bulma's panties from his spot below her, that gave us a good "up-skirt" scene. Later on, as Oolong was forced to hold Bulma on his shoulders while standing, other people in the area got a glimpse as Oolong lost his balance and fell, with Bulma landing on the grass, legs spread open. She finally realized what everyone was staring at, but by then it was already too late. This did not appear in the manga at all, and in fact, the first meeting between Bulma and Goku/Krillin/Roshi took place after the preliminaries instead of before like the anime. No fan service happened like in the anime.

13

Bulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 21. In the manga, this appears in volume 3, chapter 11, but only as dialog; there is no visual fan service.

Roshi purchased some souvenirs for Bulma to give to her at the World Tournament, but what looked like a kind gesture turned out to be less than altruistic as it came with a perverted request (more "pafu pafu"). He is assaulted by Bulma in typical comedic anime fashion. A close up of Bulma's chest only appears in the anime. The scene does exist in the manga, but there is no actual visual fan service. The fan service in the anime isn't all that great anyway, with only slight cleavage.

14

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 47. Manga volume 6, chapter 11.

Using Bulma's device that allowed people to "shrink", Roshi attempted to catch a glimpse of a half-naked Bulma in the bathroom. At first, it seemed as though he would get his wish as he was treated to a shot of Bulma's panty-covered rear. However, Roshi's luck ran out as it was discovered that Bulma was putting her pants back on. Roshi was too late, and for his troubles, was also flushed down the toilet when he accidentally fell in. The scene was a little different in the manga, where we were treated to a far away, almost full body shot of Bulma's rear end, instead of the close up we got in the anime.

15

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 50. Did not appear in the manga.

Bulma ends up triggering one of the many traps in the cave system that herself, Goku, and Krillin were exploring. The whole gang ended up holding onto each other as they dangled over a cliff which had lava at the bottom. Krillin accidentally got a glimpse of Bulma's panties while he hung onto her legs. He also took advantage of the situation to get a few more glimpses until a whole sequence ensued where they fell and were saved by Goku's power pole. That ensuing fall and rebound sequence provided many glimpses of Bulma's underpants, from many angles. This entire lava scene did not appear in the manga.

16

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episodes 51-55. Manga volume 7, chapter 4 - manga volume 8, chapter 8.

Bulma shed her shorts and appeared in what seemed to be the bottom half of a two-piece bathing suit, in order to escape the collapsing island structure they were in, along with Krillin. Like the bunny outfit, this was fairly gratuitous in appearance, and it's likely this was subtle fan service, despite its seamless integration into the plot. The strange part with regards to the anime was how she was able to change into it so quickly, and with Krillin around and no other place to change into them except right on the spot. It was clear this was not her bottom-wear from an earlier scene, because they were of a different color and had a polka dot scheme (and were most definitely panties), suggesting she must have had to change into them. There wasn't as much of a continuity issue in the manga because the lava scene never appeared, and thus we were never given a glimpse of what Bulma had on under her shorts. It would then have been plausible that she had on the red bottom. The only other plausible explanation for the anime was that she changed into the red bottom after the lava incident, however, the same issues would apply. When did she change? Where? Were Krillin and Goku not around?. However, the point is, we got some fan service. Nothing to complain about.

17

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 52. Manga volume 7, chapter 5.

In this scene, Bulma disrupted General Blue's fight with Krillin by flirting suggestively with him ("special erotic strategy"), which "grosses him out", as was eluded to prior, because he was gay. Bulma, however, did not remember that important piece of information, though her efforts still served a purpose. Because of her efforts, we were treated to even more swimsuit-based fan service in the anime, featuring a close up of her breasts, and some suggestive ass shaking. However, we only got one page in the manga, and it didn't quite include what the anime did.

18

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 63. Did not appear in the manga.

Bulma revealed an invention: a surveillance device meant to track Goku's whereabouts. Roshi made it clear, however, where his interests were. His use of Bulma's invention gave us a nice shot of Bulma's cleavage, with zoom-in. This was an anime-only scene.

19

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 71. Manga volume 9, chapter 4.

In order to allow Yamucha to see his invisible opponent, Krillin intentionally exposed Bulma's breasts to Roshi, which prompted an anime "nosebleed" that covered the invisible man, making him visible to Yamucha. There are slight color tone differences between the various releases of this, and quality differences. FUNimation's remastered versions are considerably worse with regards to quality for the single frame "after" shot that fully exposes the breasts. The "before" frame is OK though. I have included a Japanese after-shot and a FUNi re-master before shot, for comparison, and because the Japanese one is better on the after shot. The manga only has an "after" shot, and shows Bulma's breasts in a more normal state than in the anime, which has them in motion and shown in an awkward shape. Even though there's no color version of it, you'll probably enjoy the manga page considerably more.

20

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 104. Manga volume 12, chapter 5

The group, sans Goku, were discussing how to defeat King Piccolo (Piccolo Diamao) and whether or not to use the Dragon Balls to banish him instead of using them to bring Krillin back to life. Roshi began to comment but blurted out the phrase "pale grey". Upon questioning from the group on what he meant, he stated that they were the color of Bulma's panties. They had caught his eye and he had been staring at them as Bulma displayed them unknowingly in the position she was sitting. There were a couple of moments in the anime interspered before, during, and after Roshi's comments that showed shots of Bulma's panties from different angles and distances, including some closer up shots and shadowy "reflections" in Roshi's sunglasses. In the manga however, it was more limited, with only 2-3 shots spread over 2 pages.

21

Bulma

Did not appear in the anime. Volume 13, chapter 9.

Bulma told Tien not to let King Piccolo reach Metro West to destroy it because her parents lived there. In the anime, that's it. However, a manga page shows Bulma rushing over to a communication device with a shot of her panties as she "dashed" there. This is a manga-only "moment" and there is only one cell with one shot.

22

Bulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 122. Did not appear in the manga.

Launch (Lunch) accidently fired a rocket in the direction of Bulma and Yamucha, which forced them to dodge. When Bulma did so, we got a glimpse of her panties. This only occured in the anime. This did not appear in the manga.

23

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 127. Did not appear in the manga.

Bulma took her top off while sunbathing and asked Puar to rub her with tanning lotion. Oolong tried to take over instead, only to be usurped by Roshi, who had the same thing in mind. However, the plan ultimately did not work. Along the way, we were treated to many good shots of Bulma in a bikini with no top, lying face down. However, we got no actual shot of her breasts completely exposed, just side shots and her hands covering them. This moment did not appear in the manga at all, and was mere "filler" for the anime.

24

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball anime episode 133. Manga volume 14, chapter 10.

Roshi ended up seeing Bulma again after many years when they met at the World Martial Arts Tournament. Roshi took the opportunity to leer at her, and cop a quick feel before he was predictably dealt a punishing blow by Bulma. In the anime we got some close up shots of Bulma in her new outfit, and a close up of Roshi's hand as it caressed Bulma's rear. In the manga, we got one page of this, with the primary "action" taking place in one cell.

25 (Beginning of "Dragon Ball Z")

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z "open"/theme. Did not appear in the manga.

This was from an opening theme for the Dragon Ball Z anime. The "zoom out" clearly indicated fan service. I believe the screen shots speak for themselves.

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z episode 1. Did not appear in the manga.

When Bulma showed up to the reunion on Roshi's island, she brought some food - "manju buns" - as a gift. Roshi remarked that she didn't need to have gone through the trouble, and that letting him touch her breasts would have sufficed. At the same time the suggestion was made, he mimed out his point, which resulted in a standard beat down from Bulma. He never made "contact", but the visual is there, and we got a minor close up of her cleavage. Nothing too great, but fanservice. This general scene appeared in the manga, but Roshi indicated that he would have liked a kiss from Bulma. There were no remarks about her breasts, and no grabbing motions by Roshi.

27

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z Anime episode 24. Did not appear in the manga.

In the anime, Roshi delivered some good news to Bulma in regards to Yamucha being eligible to be brought back to life. He also delivered his hand to her posterior shortly thereafter; which sort of spoiled the moment for Bulma (but not for us). This was from one of the many "filler" scenes in the anime during the Saiyan arch.

28

Bulma

Dragon Ball Z anime episode 37. Did not appear in the manga.

Bulma was to go with Popo to see the Namekian space ship, but had a bit of an episode getting onto his flying carpet. In the anime, Roshi attempted to provide a little "assistance", only to get a stare-down from Bulma before he could render it. In the manga, there are panels showing her getting onto the carpet awkwardly, but no fan service.

Dragon Ball Z episodes 39 and 40. Manga volume 21, chapter 6, on the first 4 pages.

Dressed for comfort, even in the precense of Krillin and Gohan, Bulma was caught sporting some....er...."sleep wear" for two of the anime episodes, including the "filler" part when they encountered an alien spaceship colony hiding from Frieza and his empire. In the manga, however, it was limited to a few pages of her lounging around, sans aliens.

30

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z anime episode 49. Did not appear in the manga.

In some quality anime filler, Bulma took a bath; that's always a good thing. However, while doing so, she received a message from her father concerning Goku's in-progress journey to Namek. In her joy at this news, she accidentally dropped the communication device into the bath water. The subsequent search for it produced some good fan service, even if the bubbles foiled what would have been the best scene ever.

31

BulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z episode 212. Did not appear in the manga.

Trunks won the junior division of the tournament, and Bulma felt like celebrating. Roshi felt like celebrating too, but for a slightly different reason: the great view. Roshi in the Dragon Ball manga is surely jealous, having gotten nothing.

32

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z episode 239. Did not appear in the manga.

Apparently even giant dinosaurs were fans of Bulma's ass. In this gem, Bulma's rear end received some unwanted attention while she tried to retrieve a Dragon Ball. No dino lick in the manga though.

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z episode 257. Did not appear in the manga.

After only a quick look at the tournament, Roshi saw his opportunity - despite the distressing situation - and went for it......literally. Roshi's hand, meet Bulma's ass. No manga appearance for this one.

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Z episode 257. Did not appear in the manga.

Perhaps Roshi knew he was going to die soon? That would explain why, just a short time after getting a nice feel of Bulma's back door, he decided to check out her rack. The old man probably felt that the pain dealt afterwards was an acceptable price to pay. Seeing as how this was the last fan service moment in Dragon Ball Z, it might have been better for Roshi to go full pafu-pafu, for old times sake. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

Dragon Ball Movie: "Curse of the Blood Rubies"

Similar to the manga and anime, Bulma was going to have Oolong do her dirty work with regards to getting Roshi to give up his Dragon Ball. However, Oolong got a little distracted by his own transformation, much to Bulma's displeasure. Though it's not Bulma, it's an exact copy visually, and that's good enough for me.

37

BulmaBulmaBulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Movie: "Curse of the Blood Rubies"

Yes, "pafu-pafu" again; don't act so surprised. Not as much breast was exposed in this version as in the manga/anime. Still, no complaints. Again, this was the Oolong imposter version, doing Bulma's dirty work for Roshi's Dragon Ball.

38

BulmaBulma

Dragon Ball Movie: "Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle"

Bulma was being "prepped" as a sacrifice. None of that was particularly interesting, of course. What was of interest were Bulma's breasts. They could have used a bit less rope..........and a lot less shirt. Come to think of it, they could have lost her pants as well. Very poor execution on Toei's part.
